Plant Swap Day at Ararat Regional Library
Posted Wednesday 8 March, 03:24pm
The Ararat community is invited to a Plant Swap day at Ararat Regional Library.
On Friday, March 17 the day will begin with a guest speaker, Brigitte Morrissey at 11am, with tea, coffee and light refreshments available all day as anyone can drop in to exchange plants.
Come and join other garden minded people to discuss, enjoy and share tips on how to cultivate and grow swapped plants.
“A plant swap is a great opportunity to meet and connect with others and share knowledge,” Ararat Regional Library manager, Evelyn Curley said.
“If you don’t have plants to share, other garden lovers will be happy to provide you with cuttings and advice on how to grow them. You don’t have to bring succulents, you can bring cuttings, divided plants of your choice to share or seeds”
Guest speaker Brigitte Morrissey, who grows succulents for pleasure and for her small business, said that succulents are a fascinating type of plant and so easy to grow and to propagate.
“Their colours change depending where they are in a garden or in pots,” she said.
“They are hardy, with a huge variety in the genus. The leaves and shape differ from one to the other and the flowers can be small and dainty to spectacular with a huge diversity of colour.
“Succulents are low maintenance plants though keep in mind that they do need some attention from time to time.”
Garden tags will be provided on the day so that you can mark you plants if you need to.
Bring your plant cuttings from your garden beds or pots or divided plants or container plants to share on the day. For the busy person who just wants to ‘swap and run’ plants will be available all day.
Ararat Library invites anyone with an interest in gardening to come along. It’s free and a great opportunity to share a common interest. For more information contact the library on 5352 1722, email firstname.lastname@example.org or like the page on Facebook.
