Ararat Rural City Council, with support from Parks and Leisure Australia, has received funding from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to host a forum on maintaining sports grounds in climate change conditions.

The forum will be for volunteers who look after sports grounds in the region, with an aim to reduce the time and resources needed for the best ground results.

The forum will cover topics such as ground and wicket preparation, turf management, water usage and surface-related sports injuries. Presenters include author and consultant Geoff Connellan (G & M Connellan Consulting), Professor Dara Twomey (Federation University), and Sports Ground Engineer and consultant Gray Canning (SportsEng).

The forum will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at Alexandra Oval Community Centre, from 6pm-8.30pm.

Attendance at the event is free and includes a resource pack.

To RSVP, simply contact Ararat Rural City Council Recreation and Community Development Officer, Matthew Simpson on 5355 0200 or email MSimpson@ararat.vic.gov.au by COB on Monday, March 20.
