Community Vision 2030

We're currently reviewing our Community Vision, head to Engage Ararat to have your say:

The purpose of this document was to identify medium to long term objectives for the municipality under the four pillars developed within the Council Plan.

Council’s commitment to working in partnership with its community was reflected in its strenuous efforts to consult with the community in the formulation of this document.

A ‘postcard’ design was created and delivered to approximately 4,600 households within the municipality.

The following ‘Pillars’ were used as the basis for the Ararat Rural City Community Vision 2030 and the Ararat Rural City Council Plan 2013-2017:

  • Community (Our Community by 2030)
  • Lifestyle (Our Lifestyle by 2030)
  • Economy (Our Economy by 2030)
  • Environment (Our Environment by 2030)

Extensive advertising and local media coverage encouraged residents to lodge individual submissions in writing or via an online submission form.

The response to this broad community engagement exercise was overwhelmingly positive, with several identifiable themes emerging.

During March 2013, a series of community engagement sessions were held at townships across the municipality, including Ararat, Elmhurst, Moyston, Willaura, Streatham, Pomonal, Buangor and Lake Bolac.

Special community engagement sessions were held with the three regional secondary colleges in a bid to ensure the concerns, thoughts and hopes of young people were also given a voice (Ararat Community College, Lake Bolac College and Marian College).

Primary School age children were engaged in the process through a poster competition with 188 entries received.  Every school that participated received a book for the winner and one for their own use (school library, scholarship etc.).

This feedback assisted the structure and content of the Ararat Rural City Community Vision 2030.
