Events Funding

Ararat Rural City Council has a range of funding options available for community groups to assist with the organisation and running of their events.

New Events

Funding is available to assist in the start up and development of new events within Ararat Rural City.

New Event Funding Guidelines:

Applications must be received 4 months prior to the event date to be eligible for funding

  • The event must not have previously been held in the municipality in any format
  • Funding is available to not for profit community groups within Ararat Rural City for events within the municipality.
  • An detailed Event Plan including key goals, marketing plan, budget, timeline and staffing/volunteer set up must be submitted with this application
  • Funding must not be regarded as a recurrent commitment from council
  • Fundraising events must show a broader community benefit and wide community attendance.

You are required to acknowledge council’s contribution in the promotion of your event, including adding the Ararat Rural City logo to event posters, any signage and brochures and acknowledging sponsorship through media, advertising, interviews, newspaper articles and all other marketing opportunities.

A request to meet with the Event Development Officer will be made within 10 working days of the application being submitted. Applicants will be notified through letter correspondence if their application has been successful.

Existing Events

Community Groups can apply for funding of up to $500 for an event. Applications can be made throughout the year. Funding can be used for costs associated with running, coordinating and delivering events.

Existing Event Funding Guidelines:

  • Applications must be received 6 weeks prior to the event date to be eligible to receive funding.
  • Funding is available to not for profit community groups within Ararat Rural City for events within the municipality.
  • Applications can be made for a maximum of $500.
  • An Event Application must be submitted prior to an application for funding
  • Funding must not be regarded as a recurrent commitment from council
  • Fundraising events must show a broader community benefit and wide community attendance.

Public Liability Insurance Assistance

Community groups can apply for funding to assist with the purchase of insurance for events. Applications can be made throughout the year.

Insurance Assistance Guidelines:

  • Applications must be received 4 months prior to the event date to be eligible to receive funding.
  • Funding is available to not for profit community groups within Ararat Rural City for events within the municipality.
  • Applications can be made for a maximum of $1000.
  • An Event Application must be submitted prior to an application for funding
  • A quote for insurance and policy summary must be submitted with this application
  • Funding must not be regarded as a recurrent commitment from council

You are required to acknowledge council’s contribution in the promotion of your event, including adding the Ararat Rural City logo to event posters, any signage and brochures and acknowledging sponsorship through media, advertising, interviews, newspaper articles and all other marketing opportunities.
