Council's Advocacy Program

One of the most important roles of Council is to advocate on behalf of its communities for the improvements, services and funds they need, where these are the responsibility of the State and Federal Governments or other third parties. Ararat Rural City Council has affirmed its commitment to advocating on behalf of its residents to ensure the development of critical infrastructure requirements to adequately support the growing Ararat Rural City community and plan for future growth areas.

Council seeks funding to undertake 'Ararat in Transition' to provide a masterplan for the town centre renewal and investment.  The masterplan will empower local people to take a place based approach to developing a shared vision for key precincts and services

Ararat on the Move

This project will deliver a premier sporting facility for the region and will provide economic and recreational benefits for community life in Ararat

Rural Roads Renewal

Council has altered work practices and design standards to ensure roads are built to Austroads guidelines including increasing pavement thickness, utilising certified crushed rock and adopting construction methods that will ensure investment in roads is not lost due to re-work.

Aradale - New Opportunities for an Ararat icon

Ararat Rural City Council is concerned that without a clear plan for future sustainable use, the Aradale site and buildings will fall into total disrepair and a significant local and state asset will be lost .   A clear vision for Aradale to identify long term uses and attract investment and reinvent one of regional Victoria's iconic sites

Ararat Active City Community Renewal

Ararat Rural City Council is seeking funding for a 4 year project centred on creating a strong and healthy community and workforce

Gordon Street Oval

The Gordon Street redevelopment will greatly increase the recreation experience in Ararat.  The upgrade will create an inclusive, sustainable multipurpose facility for the community

Ararat Active Link (Ararat Skate Park Precinct)

The Ararat Active Link will create an inclusive, family friendly and sustainable opportunity for all Ararat citizens to get involved in active recreation

Ararat Fitness Centre

The Ararat Fitness Centre is the municipaly's only indoor aquatic and community recreation facility with over 130,000 users a year.  Our community needs access improvements to their fitness facility

Ararat Hills Trails

Mountain bikers are a lucrative demographic target for tourism and economic growth.  The Ararat Hills area  a prime location to take advantage of thi growing leisure activity and competitive sport.

We need residents to support our advocacy campaigns and help us secure funding from other levels of government to improve infrastructure and economic development opportunities for Ararat Rural City residents.
